Driving up the Trans-Canada Highway, you are greeted by spectacular scenery on all sides – razor-backed mountain ridges, deep snowy valleys and my favorite vista – Castle Mountain.
The area boasts almost 8000 acres of skiable terrain across 3 resorts – Mt. Norquay, Banff Sunshine and Lake Louise – there is plenty of skiing and riding for every level. First time visitors are encouraged to join the free daily tours to learn what each mountain has to offer. The views from the top are beyond words – and can be enjoyed by skiers and non-skiers thanks to gondola access. We enjoyed spring-like weather, blue skies, temperatures in the 30s and plenty of sunscreen.
For the non-skier, there are outdoor touring options, including snowshoeing, snowmobiling, dog sledding and cross-country. They town has ample shopping – with retail, outdoor gear and plenty of souvenir shops. Several spas as well – when you need a day off for a little pampering!
Returning one summer is definitely on my wanderlist – hiking, kayaking and venturing further into the park to visit Jasper for even more beautiful scenery. Banff is a great destination for everyone – no matter what time of year you choose to visit. Ready to plan your trip to Banff National Park?
